Renato Piccolotto was born January 28, 1954 in the province of Treviso, Italy. He entered the culinary world in 1971 as a "commis de cuisine" through the kitchen of the Villa Cipriani in Asolo where Giuseppe Cipriani, the founder of Harry’s Bar, took him under his wing and instilled in him the principles of Venetian cooking.

As the Cipriani’s Executive Chef, Renato Piccolotto has travelled around the word and taken part in many Culinary Festivals: England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Monte-Carlo, as well as in  United States, Australia and Japan.

His culinary philosophy is to offer an authentic Venetian cuisine, in which the flavors of the ingredients are given center stage.  His dishes are remarkably unpretentious and honest, yet luxurious and constructed with passion and elegance.
